State guide · All Other States
Forty-three states have no CXI guide yet. That's deliberate.
A shallow guide to every state would be worse than none: formation fees, report dates, and agent rules differ enough that a generic page would mislead you with confidence. Instead, here is the shape every state's route shares, and the operator built for the whole map.
US-1The universal route shape
- Home-state rule: form where the business physically operates. Every other formation creates a foreign registration back home anyway.
- Name + agent + filing: every state wants a distinguishable name, an in-state registered agent with a street address, and a formation filing ($40–$500 depending on the state).
- The recurring calendar: most states want an annual or biennial report; a few (Ohio, Pennsylvania's neighbors among them) differ in fee, date, or both. The calendar — not the formation — is where entities die.
- Tax registrations are separate from the Secretary-of-State record in nearly every state.
US-2When the operator matters more than the guide
If you're forming in one state and living there, a good state guide (like our Pennsylvania guide) plus your Secretary of State's site will carry you. If you're forming in a state you don't live in, operating in several, or you simply want the agent desk and the deadline calendar to be somebody else's job, that is precisely the service a national registered-agent operator sells.
Where this route hands off
RA Navigator is CXI's national handoff: registered-agent coverage and compliance routing across the US. Founders based outside the US route to Sethhost instead — different problems, different desk.
